Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

Hi, I’m Nitza Santiago! I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I moved to Florida more than 25
years ago. I am fluent in English and Spanish. I am the second of four siblings. I describe myself
as a determined, disciplined woman in search of personal growth. I am also a free spirit who
decided to become my best version every day. I am bold and fearless as well as an approachable,
empathic person.

I’m a Registered Mental Health Counselor with a Minor in Play Therapy. I hold a MS degree in Counseling Education from Palm Beach Atlantic University. I Also, have a bachelor’s degree in science of Education from Bayamon Central University in Puerto Rico. After more than 20 years as a Primary Education teacher I shifted gears toward counseling with a focus on Play Therapy and women related issues. In a conversation with me, you would hear me say: “I was transformed to help transform others.” This is because I firmly believe that all processes we go through in life are to polish our character and reveal the diamond within us. For this reason, it is my desire to reach out to others and empower them to reconquer their dreams.\

In my work with clients, I support them in their journey to overcome anxiety, depression, anger, grief/loss, divorce, women issues, ADHD and school/academic problems among others centering attention in finding transparency and confidence in their lives. As a therapist, I am a facilitator! I provide you the tools and teach you how to implement them for you to become your improved version day-to-day. In session I utilize a variety of techniques including play therapy elements, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, stress management, self-worth, empowerment and exploration of inner child. My goal is to guide you through your healing path.
