Gary is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a broad range of clinical experience working in the field of mental health with children, adolescents and families.  Gary graduated from Herbert H. Lehman College (City University of New York) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 2003.  He went on to earn a Master of Social Work Degree from New York University School of Social Work in 2004.

Gary’s clinical focus during his time in New York City have included: Working with children from birth to 21 years of age who have delayed and / or developmental disabilities within a multi-disciplinary team setting, providing play therapy / dyadic therapy to address emotional / behavioral issues, leading / co-leading groups for children with developmental diagnoses, conducting parent groups in raising a child with developmental disabilities and providing case management services.  Gary also worked with a school based prevention program for families referred by the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) providing home-based and on-site individual, family and group counseling as well as short term crisis, psycho-social rehabilitation and case management services.

Relocating to Florida in 2008 Gary has spent the last 7 years conducting assessments and counseling children up to age 18 consisting of Individual Therapy, Family Therapy and Crisis Intervention, working with special needs children, especially children who have been diagnosed with emotional disorders or classified as Educationally Handicapped.   Gary’s years of experience make him an invaluable part of the Milestone Team.

 

Currently, Gary is a Registered Play Therapist, a Certified Therapist in Parent- Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR).  Gary utilizes numerous intervention methods including: Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Play / Expressive Therapies and Psychosocial Therapies to create a safe, supportive and positive therapeutic environment.  Gary is very excited to be in the Milestone family and looks forward to helping our community face these challenging times.
