Cynthia is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor. Cynthia enjoys connecting with children using play therapy techniques and interventions to create a safe world where children can explore possibilities in a nonjudgmental way, learning and practicing new skills with confidence. She values opportunities to join with others gaining the trust of teens and adults on their path of self-discovery and possibilities. Her therapeutic approach is one of compassionate acceptance, seeking to understand the needs presented and direction desired, as stated by the individuals and families seeking therapy. She is a strength-based, solution-focused therapist, believing in the best in people and their personal desire to
succeed. Cynthia’s approach in helping people is to walk beside them encouraging them through their own therapeutic journey, equipping them with the skills and tools to be able to function to the best of their ability and enjoy life. PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
Having experienced personal trauma as the result of a car accident with emotional and physical challenges years ago, and physical/emotional abuse from her first marriage, she sees herself now with a heart to assist people find their own steps towards healing, becoming a survivor and learning to thrive with the wisdom and strength acquired.
Since 1996 Cynthia has been an active member in the Association or Play Therapy (APT), volunteering for various projects; she is also a member of the Florida Play Therapy Branch of the APT. She was the
lead author for an article published in the 2012 Play Therapy magazine, “What make a safe, effective & inviting playroom.“ She is passionate concerning the benefits of play therapy and joining with children and teens in a therapeutic relationship assisting them and their families as they deal with life’s choices and challenges encountered in living life.
Cynthia has been active in the mental health field over 25 years, serving in various capacities during her career; as an elementary school counselor in a public school setting, a psychotherapist in a residential school setting, as a therapist in a State-Wide Inpatient Psychiatric Program (SIPP) for children and adolescents, as well as a clinical supervisor for a child advocacy center specializing in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and integrating play therapy for children and adolescents who have disclosed abuse.
She has initiated and lead programs and work groups covering parenting skills, mentoring, human trafficking, trauma informed care, multi-disciplinary county-wide monthly meetings, animal-assisted therapy, Camp New Hope for grieving children/teens, crisis management, and character education.

4. She and her husband of 27 years are involved in their local church as Deacons.
5. Supports and volunteers alongside her husband, a Marine Vietnam Veteran, in reaching out to
veterans and their families in Central Florida.
HOBBIES:
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering, traveling, horseback riding,
exercising and being with her dog Jake.
